EATING DISORDER THERAPY IN MARYLAND

It’s time to take back control.

Does food consume your thoughts 24/7? Are you tired of worrying about if your “skinny enough?”

Maybe self-imposed isolation from friends, or perhaps your ability to focus at school or work has gone down the drain.

You may be struggling to keep your day-to-day activities or simply not able to get out of bed due to low energy. Perhaps you’re feeling anxious or depressed.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • declining work and/or academic performance

  • feeling cold all of the time

  • feeling dizzy or tired all of the time

  • avoiding meal times or eating in public

  • missing menstrual periods

Life can feel different than the way it does today.

Eating disorder therapy can help

It may feel impossible now, but you can be happy in your own skin. You can enjoy food. And I can get you there.

I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to eating disorder therapy comes from a place of hope and empathy: believing that you are not the “problem,” but come to a place of peace and acceptance about your life and your body.

Eating disorder therapy helps you do 4 things:

  • Identify the root of the problems you’re experiencing

  • Restore normal eating patterns, a healthy weight maintenance, and realistic evaluation of your body

  • Learn that food is not the enemy

  • Understand the tools that will help resolve your problems, so you live a fulfilling life.

Hating your body and fearing food doesn’t have to be your story.

Eating Disorder Treatment

  • Therapy is an individualized process. Typically we will explore past experiences that may be contributed to your eating disorder. We then explore, identify, and challenge negative thinking patterns continue anxiety and low self-esteem. You will also learn mindfulness tools to help reduce stress and anxiety symptoms.

  • This depends on individual needs. Typically, I recommend beginning with weekly sessions. As progress is made, sessions are cut back to biweekly, every three weeks, and so on.

  • There are no guarantees that therapy will work for you. However, I have 10 years of experience in private practice with special interest in the treatment of eating disorders. I also offer lived in experience, empathy, support, and acceptance in my sessions.

  • Start off with a free 15 min consultation. If it is determined that I am a good match, we will schedule your first initial visit where we will gather information, set goals, and develop a treatment plan.
